Mather Golf Club

Tournament Policies

(Approved by Board of Directors February 2007)

CONDITIONS OF PLAY

Mather Golf Club (MGC) reserves the right to decline or withdraw any entry at any time. Any person whose entry is accepted shall be subject to the rules and conditions of play set forth by the Mather Tournament Committee. Any act of unsportsmanlike conduct, including the use of obscene or abusive language, will be cause for disqualification. For all tournaments each player must be a current member of the MGC and in good standing.

ELIGIBILITY FOR NCGA QUALIFIERS

Participants must have an established USGA handicap (minimum of 20 rounds played) and have played in at least 3 Mather Tournaments within the 12-month period preceding the tournament. The tournaments must have resulted in a postable tournament score for handicap purposes. All weekend and weekday tournaments count toward meeting this requirement. A player may not qualify for the same NCGA event and represent MGC two years in a row. Example, if John Smith and Bill Jones qualify for the NCGA Zone Championship in 2005, they will not be eligible for the NCGA Zone in 2006. This is true whether or not they enter the 2006 event as a team or they each have a new partner. All qualifying rounds will be played during weekend tournaments. All players will compete on the same day(s).

ELIGIBILITY FOR CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP

Participants must have an established USGA handicap (minimum of 20 rounds played) and have played in at least 3 Mather Tournaments during the current year – January through date of Club Championship. The tournaments must have resulted in a postable tournament score for handicap purposes. All weekend and weekday tournaments count toward meeting this requirement.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ALL OTHER TOURNAMENTS

Subject to the determination of the Tournament Committee.

SLOW PLAY

It is the responsibility of each player to maintain the pace of play. It is our goal to complete each round within four hours. To help with the pace tournament play the MGC Board of Directors has implemented the following policy. The Golf Course Marshals have been provided with “Yellow Tickets” by the MGC Board of Directors and have been instructed to give a “Yellow Ticket” to any groups that is out of position during a tournament round. A group will be determined to be out of position when they are one or more holes behind the group ahead. The first “Yellow Ticket” is a warning that the group is out of position and must speed up play. If a group receives a second “Yellow Ticket”, a penalty of two strokes may be assessed any or all members of the group. If a group receives a third “Yellow Ticket”, any or all of the members of the group may be disqualified. All “Yellow Tickets” received during play must be given to the Tournament Committee immediately after play. The Tournament Committee will determine if any penalty or disqualification will be made. This decision will be made after discussion with the members of the group.

CELLULAR PHONES AND BEEPERS

The use of cellular phones or any other similar equipment on the course during competition is prohibited and will result in disqualification.

TIEBREAKERS

Tiebreakers will be determined by the Tournament Committee. Exception: Ties in the Club Championship will be determined by sudden death playoff.

NO SHOWS

A player who does not show up for his/her tee time will not receive a refund of tournament fees.

WITHDRAWALS AND REFUNDS

In order to receive a refund of tournament entry fees a player must notify the Tournament Chairman at least 48 hours in advance of the first round of the tournament.

TOURNAMENT ENTRY DEADLINES

All entries must be received either in the MGC Post Office Box or in the drop box in the Pro Shop by the posted deadline for the event. Late entries will only be accepted on a space available basis and subject to approval by the respective Tournament Committee.

TOURNAMENT HANDICAPS

Each player’s handicap for every MGC tournament will be the lower of his/her current USGA Index, or the historical MGC Tournament Handicap. The MGC Tournament Handicap is calculated based upon player’s tournament scores at Mather Golf Club for the past twelve months.

HAND HELD RANGE FINDERS

For all MGC tournaments including NCGA qualifiers, a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. However, if, during the round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., gradient, wind-speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional functions are actually used.

TOURNAMENT POSTING SHEETS AND PENALTY SCORES

Every player must post his/her adjusted score on the Tournament Posting Sheet immediately after the round. If a player fails to post their score then the MGC Handicap Chairman will post the player’s actual score and a penalty score. The penalty score will be equal to the player’s lowest differential in the player’s scoring record. Final approval of all penalty scores posted will be subject to a Review Committee examination. The Review Committee will be comprised of the Handicap Chairman, the Weekend Tournament Director and Weekday Tournament Director. It will be the Review Committee’s responsibility to ensure that all penalty scores issued are equitable.
